Another year in the Baka Inaka

So I just started my third year, here in the countryside of Japan, that so many of us call-- the Baka Inaka, a.k.a. Fukui. Obviously, it's not so bad-- or i wouldn't have stayed so long. So get ready for more pics, comments, and bitching about my life here in Japan.

Zeniya's- my love =)

Since I've come to Fukui, I fell in love. I fell in love with Zeniya's. It is by far the best resturant- EVER. The resturant is a fusion of Italian food with some Asian influsence (Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese). Everything I ever tried at Zeniya's has been amazing- but my favs are- the spinning bowl salad, Cheese Risotto, and the chocolate fountain. The food is simply- to die for!
Cuatro (not the right spelling of his name) making the famous spinning bowl salad.

Another reason I love Zeniya's is the staff. The owner/ chef Cuatro (my spelling of his name based on the phonetics) is super sweet and speaks good English. Every time I have been to his resturant, I've seen him take great care of his non- Japanese partons. He's really great at remembering custombers, too- which is real nice. I defiantly enjoy being greeted by name each time I eat there. Align Center

Damn, it looks so delicious

winter special- hot chocolate

Another charming thing about the resturant is that they change up their menu every month. Some key dishes stay on- or change up (such as the Cheese Risotto which features new ingredience monthly). Thete are also some seasonal specials. I lucked out on my last visit becuase there was an ad for a new hot chocolate. The owner pointed it out to me-- and although the ad said it wasn't available for a few more days- I asked nice and got a preview.
I got a choice of dark (bitter) or milk chocolate. I asked for a mix so I got a little container of both dark and milk chocolate. Another container looked much like an essensial oil heater. There is a small container set over a candle. You up the chocolate pieces in the container and pour some cream over it and then stir the contents together to create a hot, smooth, creamy- rich hot chocolate.

Meagan and me showin off the fab food.
